About the Journal
Aims and Scope
Scientia Bruneiana is a forum for the publication of pure and applied research in the areas of biodiversity and sustainability, environmental science, and energy conversion and storage. The journal aims to encourage the dissemination and advancement of local and international knowledge in these important fields, with emphasis on research that is directly relevant to Brunei Darussalam and the wider ASEAN region.
The intentionally broad scope of the journal is designed to reflect the complex and sometimes interdisciplinary nature of modern biodiversity, environmental, and energy research. Work falling outside these core areas will also be considered if it represents a significant advance in one or more of the traditional academic disciplines of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geology, and computer science.
The journal is especially interested in (though not limited to) papers that report on new plant, animal and microbial species and distributions, bioprospecting of novel chemicals and therapeutic agents, forest and marine biodiversity, and biological responses to anthropogenically modified environments. Papers reporting on emerging technologies for energy conversion and storage including photovoltaics, solar fuels, wind energy, batteries and supercapacitors, or covering matters relating to energy modelling and management, are also welcomed.
Peer Review Process
Scientia Bruneiana (SciBru) employs single blind reviewing, where the referees remain anonymous throughout the process.
Initial manuscript evaluation is performed by the resepective section editor (Associate Editor) for all manuscripts. The manuscripts outside the aims and scope of the journal, with insufficient orginality and serious scientific flaws are rejected at this stage. Those that meet the minimum criteria are normally passed on to at least 2 experts for review.
The review process will usually take 6-8 weeks depeding upon the response of the referees. Whenever possible, referees are matched to the paper according to their expertise and our database is constantly being updated.
A final decision to accept or reject the manuscript will be sent to the author along with any recommendations made by the referees.
